Steel for the reinforcement of concrete of grade S500s or B500C or StIV with ribs, is produced according to the National Standards ELOT 971, ELOT 1421 and German Standard DIN 488 respectively.
Steel belonging to this category, is characterised as weldable steel and has transverse ribs, which ensure improved bonding with concrete. This type of steel is produced by the hot rolling process without any further treatment (vanadium bearing steel), or is a product of hot rolling immediately followed by heat-treatment (in line). With this heat-treatment a ductile product is formed due to the existence of a soft core (internal part of the bar) and a tough outer layer, which provides high strength to the material. The cross section of hot rolled steel followed by heat-treatment and submersion in Nital can be seen below.
This type of steel produced at our state-of-the-art installations, undergoes strict and systematic quality control and provides the greatest guarantee for earthquake – proof structures.
